How big is Chinese web market?

Chinese web market is probably not as big as American market now, but it has the huge potential and it's the fastest growing market in the world.

In mid-1995, Chinese Internet subscribers numbered only 40,000. China nows has 8 million web users, according to Chinese official report. More than 100 ISPs (Internet service provider) are in operation.

We're not sure whether the announced 8,000,000 figure referred to the formal subscriber base or actual users. It is a known fact that many accounts allowing access to the Internet are shared by multiple users in China.

By the end of 2000, nobody doubts that Chinese Internet users will reach 10 million.
